Sales Chick Podcast: Putting Yourself in Control

by Brooke Green on November 21, 2008

Our guest on today’s podcast is Kelli Schmith. Kelli is a brilliant marketing exec who recently found herself unemployed. The lesson of this podcast is creating a process for putting yourself in control, whether it’s looking for a new job, wanting to do something else with your career, or wanting to position yourself in your current reality. This is a podcast for any stage you might be in.

Great podcast Brooke. I really appreciate how your guest is so willing to share her experience and attitudes around her job separation. Thinking more about “what’s the next thing I want to do” is a good attitude at any point in the job cycle.

I’m re-listening now waiting for the visual CV reference. That would be a great link to post!

I have been building my linkedin network, stumbled upon Kelli Schmith, was intrigued by some of the things she wrote enough to click into the blog and then I quickly got lost in Kelli world… caught inside a diamond facets sparkling… I was so impressed by one of her quotes I pasted it into facebook, I then realized I have no place for all the cool quotes I stumble upon for business.

Here is the quote:
Never forget that thinking is a commodity.
Feelings, on the other hand, compel people to act.
Any mediocre marketer can get you to think.
Truly remarkable ones quietly go about causing you to FEEL. – Kelli Schmith

I think if you change it up it could be a mantra or even on a granite wall…
Here is my first pass … (I could make 10 of these quickly)

Never forget a soldier is a commodity
Feelings, on the other hand, compel you to act.
Any mediocre citizen can become a soldier
Truly remarkable ones quietly go about causing you to FEEL.

Hey… it’s my first pass… but the point is their is something circular here Feelings and Action…

… anyway I stumbled upon your podcast and basically I am blown away by the whole thing!
